Flame Resistant Safety Solutions
Flash Fire

Flash Fire Properties:

  • Average length of 3 seconds or less
  • Sudden and unexpected ignition
  • Temperatures range from 1,000° – 2,000°F or more
  • A hazard that can occur in any environment where concentrated fuel (flammable solids and liquids, or their gases, vapors or dust) may become mixed with enough oxygen to support combustion

In the event of a flash fire, everyday fabric (non-flame resistant) can ignite and burn when exposed to an ignition source, becoming a source of fuel for prolonged flames. These fabrics may burn long after the original source of the flame is gone. Flame resistant fabric self-extinguishes after the original source of the flame is removed.

Who needs Flash Fire Protection?

Flash Fire potential is a common hazard where flammable materials are present or are being handled, processed, or stored: for example, in Petrochemical plants, Molten Metal and Glass foundries, Mining operations, Oil and Gas refineries, extraction and pipelines, as well as Gas utility services.
